Matthew Brabham Sets New Track Record, Claims First Pole of 2025 at Mid-Ohio

LEXINGTON, Ohio (June 20, 2025) – Practice and qualifying have concluded for the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Matthew Brabham in the No. 21 GYM WEED Ford Mustang claimed his first pole of the season by setting a new track record of 1:19.525. The late addition to the entry list is the second car in the CD Racing stable this weekend. Brabham filled in for team owner Chris Dyson (No. 16 GYM WEED Ford Mustang) yesterday in testing after Dyson’s flight was delayed.

Permco Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio begins today featuring a mix of vintage and contemporary racing

Longest continuously-running event at the track includes 19 total races featuring two Trans Am Series races

LEXINGTON, Ohio (June 20, 2025) – The Permco Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio returns to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend (June 20-22) for its 43rd annual edition. The longest continuously-running event at the legendary track will feature a mix of vintage and contemporary racing from seven SpeedTour series, including two 75-minute Trans Am Series races.

Munroe Falls, Ohio  Amy Ruman, in her No. 23 McNichols Co./Valley Automotive Group Chevrolet Corvette, will be close to home this weekend as she gears up and heads down to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, OH, for the Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli Permco Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio. Fans will be able to enjoy an action-packed weekend as Trans Am is running in conjunction with SVRA Vintage, F4 US Championship/FR Americas, International GT, a car show, and much more as part of the 2025 SpeedTour.

Seasons Approach Halfway at Mid-Ohio

Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas), Formula 4 United States Championship (F4 U.S.) and Ligier Junior Formula Championship (Ligier JFC) all near halfway in their 2025 seasons, as they unload at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend. FR Americas and Ligier JFC officially hit the midseason mark this weekend, while F4 U.S. is just one race shy, leaving Mid-Ohio with eight of its 18 rounds in the books. 

Trans Am Series Event Preview: Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course 2025

The Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli returns to action this weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for Round 6 of the 12-round 2025 season. The Trans Am Series has been racing at the Lexington, Ohio facility since 1967, with competitors taking the checkered flag 50 times in 58 years. The first event was won by Jerry Titus, who was also the fastest qualifier in that event. This weekend will see nearly 50 competitors take the green flag between the TA/XGT/SGT/GT/GT1 classes and the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series. The facility has seen a number of improvements since Trans Am last visited Ohio, including an extensive update around Turn 4 and the replacement of safety barriers and fencing in multiple places around the track.
