Seasons Approach Halfway at Mid-Ohio

Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas), Formula 4 United States Championship (F4 U.S.) and Ligier Junior Formula Championship (Ligier JFC) all near halfway in their 2025 seasons, as they unload at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend. FR Americas and Ligier JFC officially hit the midseason mark this weekend, while F4 U.S. is just one race shy, leaving Mid-Ohio with eight of its 18 rounds in the books. 

It’s all part of the Mid-Ohio SpeedTour, a four-day weekend packed with racing and fan-friendly fun. Along with the three formula championships, fans can catch action from the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA), International GT (IGT) and the Trans Am Series. Plus, there’s plenty to do off-track—stroll through the open paddocks, meet drivers at the autograph session or during the fan walks, and check out all the cool cars on display at Saturday’s Hagerty Cars & Caffeine car show. Tickets for the Mid-Ohio SpeedTour are available at SpeedTour.net, and kids ages 12 and under are admitted free.

Meet the Stars of FR Americas, F4 U.S. and Ligier JFC 

Fans at the Mid-Ohio SpeedTour will have a chance to meet the drivers of FR Americas, F4 U.S. and Ligier JFC during an autograph session on Saturday afternoon. Drivers from all three championships will be signing autographs, taking photos and hanging out with the fans starting at 12:45 p.m. ET in the Super Pavilion, which is located on the infield side of the frontstretch.

FR Americas Goes from Two Rounds to Three at Mid-Ohio

After inclement weather led to the postponement of Race 1 last weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, FR Americas is making up for lost time, turning what was supposed to be a two-race weekend into a tripleheader. With Rounds 9, 10, and 11 all happening at the Mid-Ohio SpeedTour, it’s certain to be an exciting weekend.

Mid-Ohio On Repeat

Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course holds a special place in the history of FR Americas, standing as the most-frequently visited track since the championship’s launch in 2018. With 16 races held at the Ohio circuit—missing only the 2019 season—Mid-Ohio has become a familiar venue for the series. This weekend, six drivers on the grid bring prior FR Americas experience at Mid-Ohio. Among them are Nicolas Ambiado (No. 55 Velox USA / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) and Jett Bowling (No. 22 Bullhorn / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3), both having earned a podium finish at the track, with Ambiado’s second-place result edging out Bowling’s career-best third.

Crossed Flags at Mid-Ohio

The fight for the 2025 title and the $100,000 cash prize continues, as the race season passes its halfway point this weekend. Four drivers have celebrated in Victory Lane this year, including Jett Bowling (No. 22 Bullhorn / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3), who became the championship’s newest winner last weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS). Nicolas Ambiado (No. 55 Velox USA / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) also visited winner’s circle at IMS. That victory, paired with a fourth-place finish in the weekend’s two races, was enough to propel him back into the points lead, overtaking Titus Sherlock (No. 31 Rayne Nutrition / Ronald McDonald House Charities / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3), who was sidelined by a mechanical issue and failed to score any points in one of the two IMS rounds. With just six points separating Ambiado and Sherlock, Bruno Ribeiro (No. 01 Alfa Cem / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) is only one point further back. The highest-ranked rookie, Ribeiro leads the series in podium finishes, with six results inside the top three. Bowling climbed to fourth in the standings after an impressive weekend at IMS, while Brady Golan (No. 80 Attire / Toney Driver Development Ligier JS F3), the only other driver to record a win this season, rounds out the top five.

Sherlock Takes on Mid-Ohio 

Titus Sherlock (No. 31 Rayne Nutrition / Ronald McDonald House Charities / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) should have made his first FR Americas start at Mid-Ohio last season. However, a crash in practice cut that plan short, sidelining him for the rest of the weekend before he even made it to the starting grid. While this weekend will mark the 20 year old’s first FR Americas start at Mid-Ohio, it’s not his first time competing on the circuit, as he raced here with F4 U.S. in 2023 and earned a best finish of fourth. That experience could prove beneficial as he looks to bounce back and make a strong showing this weekend.

Pollack Joins Crosslink Motorsports

After sitting out the rounds at Road America and IMS, Jake Pollack (No. 5 PMCA Partners / The NRP Group / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) returns to the grid this weekend at Mid-Ohio. The 18-year-old rookie returns to the action with Crosslink Motorsports, and joins teammates Titus Sherlock (No. 31 Rayne Nutrition / Ronald McDonald House Charities / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) and Barrett Wolfe (No. 13 Make-A-Wish / Axiom Cyber / Cool.inc / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3). Pollack has good reason to feel confident heading into the weekend—joining a new team and taking on one of his best tracks. Competing in Ligier JFC last season, Mid-Ohio was the site of Pollack’s strongest weekend, earning one of his two-career podiums and his first front-row start. His efforts that weekend didn’t go unnoticed, as the stewards honored him with the Omologato Perfectly-Timed Move of the Race—an award recognizing his standout performance. 

Will F4 U.S. Success Translate to FR Americas?

Fresh off his first-career podium, Nicolas Stati (No. 15 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) heads into Mid-Ohio wondering if past success at the circuit will carry over to his current campaign. The Australian had a strong showing at Mid-Ohio last season while competing in F4 U.S., scoring both a win and a second-place finish during the two-race weekend. Now in his rookie FR Americas season, Stati continues to make steady progress, already earning three top-five finishes in the opening eight rounds. 

Mid-Ohio is a Must for F4 U.S.

If there’s one constant on the F4 U.S. calendar, it’s Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Since the series’ debut in 2016—when it visited the circuit twice during its inaugural season—F4 U.S. has returned to the 2.258-mile circuit every single year. With 28 races contested at Mid-Ohio to date, it stands as the most-visited venue in championship history, and is the only track to appear on the schedule each and every season. Over the years, Mid-Ohio has played host to some of F4 U.S.’s most notable winners. The list of past victors reads like a “Who’s Who” of open-wheel prospects, including Kyle Kirkwood (2016-2017), Dakota Dickerson (2018), Christian Rasmussen (2018), Lochie Hughes (2022), Patrick Woods-Toth (2023), and most recently, Nicolas Stati (2024). 

Fight Continues for FR Americas Scholarship

Six races into an 18-race season, Kekai Hauanio (No. 29 N-E-Where Transport / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F422) has emerged as the current frontrunner in the battle for the F4 U.S. title. Entering the recent Road America weekend third in the standings, the 18 year old delivered a solid performance—including two wins and a third-place finish—that propelled him to the top of the leaderboard, overtaking both Alex Popow (No. 55 Dr. Michael Thompson MS DDS PPLS / MLT Motorsports Ligier JS F422) and Cooper Shipman (No. 14 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422). 

Popow, currently third in points with a 23.5-point deficit, endured a challenging weekend at Road America, where mechanical failures and a penalty kept him off the podium in all three races. Meanwhile, Shipman maintained the consistency that’s defined his season so far, holding onto second place in the standings, just 18.5 points behind Hauanio.

Hauanio Carrying Confidence into Mid-Ohio

After a breakout weekend at Mid-Ohio last season in Ligier JFC, Kekai Hauanio (No. 29 N-E-Where Transport / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F422) enters this weekend’s event brimming with confidence. He dominated at the track last year, setting the fastest lap to claim pole position, and recording the quickest laps in both Races 1 and 2, to start all three races from the point position. Though narrowly missing the victory in Race 1, Hauanio bounced back to take the checkered flag in Races 2 and 3, delivering a near-perfect weekend at the 2.258-mile circuit. Stepping up to F4 U.S. this season, Hauanio remains confident in his ability to master Mid-Ohio once again, and aims to build on his strong history for another stellar performance. 

Campbell Finds Stride in F4 U.S.

Caleb Campbell (No. 68 Kids Help Phone / Camtacc Properties / Legacy Foundation of Canada / LC Racing Ligier JS F422) started to find his stride during F4 U.S.’s latest round at Road America, as a first-career podium in Round 4 quickly led to his first-career win in Round 5. In the final race of the weekend, he was battling for the final podium position when contact from another competitor led to damage that ended Campbell’s day early at the Wisconsin track. Consistently competitive throughout the weekend, Campbell has proven that he has what it takes to win, and now he’s looking to build momentum as he aims to challenge for the championship. 

Crosslink vs. Kiwi in Team Points Battle

Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport was unstoppable last season, racking up five wins and 18 podiums throughout the season’s 14 rounds. However, that’s all changed this year, as the two now compete separately as ‘Crosslink Motorsports’ and ‘Kiwi Motorsport.’ With the season approaching the halfway mark, the two teams find themselves in a fierce battle for the team championship, with just 1.5 points separating the two entities.

Rookie Takes On Three Veterans in Championship Fight

Rookie Gastón Irazú (No. 42 Elia Group / Baly / Canal 4 / Ancap / Champagne Racing Ligier JS F4) continues to lead the way in Ligier JFC, battling a trio of veterans for not only the championship title, but also a scholarship to compete in F4 U.S. next season. Irazú has been, by far, the most consistent driver in Ligier JFC this season, recording two wins and never finishing worse than second. Behind him is Drew Szuch (No. 28 Berg Racing Ligier JS F4), who leads the series with three wins, but with no additional podiums, trails Irazú by 26 points. Fresh off of his first-career win, Daniel Cará (No. 10 Tenuta Foppa & Ambrosi Wines / WorkHub / Cará Origin Motorsports Ligier JS F4) is ranked third, 35.5 points behind Irazú and 9.5 points behind Szuch. Harbir Dass (No. 23 Northcoast Medical Group / Dubby Energy / Dass Psych LLC / Berg Racing Ligier JS F4), on the power of four podiums, continues to be in the hunt, 41.5 points behind Irazú and six points behind Cará.

Drivers Drawing on Past Experience at Mid-Ohio

Four drivers entered in this weekend’s field have previous Ligier JFC experience at Mid-Ohio to draw on. Daniel Cará (No. 10 Tenuta Foppa & Ambrosi Wines / WorkHub / Cará Origin Motorsports Ligier JS F4) competed on the circuit back in 2023 when F4 U.S. was still using the first-generation Ligier JS F4 car. With a best finish of fourth that weekend, Cará looks to pair experience with momentum as he builds off his first-career win at Road America just last month. Drew Szuch (No. 28 Berg Racing Ligier JS F4) was another driver to find success at Road America last month. Winning two of the weekend’s three races, Szuch has forward momentum and will draw on his previous Mid-Ohio experience, which includes a fifth-place finish last season. Likewise, brothers Cash Felber (No. 11 BioLongevity Labs / TownHall / Rebol / DWT / Matrix Mind Water / Phantom Fireworks / Champagne Racing Ligier JS F4) and Roman Felber (No. 73 BioLongevity Labs / TownHall / Rebol / DWT / Matrix Mind Water / Phantom Fireworks / Champagne Racing Ligier JS F4) made their Ligier JFC debuts at Mid-Ohio last season. The local drivers both tallied top-10 finishes throughout the weekend, with Roman recording a best finish of sixth and Cash finishing ninth. 

Ohioans Racing at Home

If you hear someone chanting “O-H” this weekend, there are a few Ohio natives in the field who are sure to respond with an “I-O.” Akron brothers Cash Felber (No. 11 BioLongevity Labs / TownHall / Rebol / DWT / Matrix Mind Water / Phantom Fireworks / Champagne Racing Ligier JS F4) and Roman Felber (No. 73 BioLongevity Labs / TownHall / Rebol / DWT / Matrix Mind Water / Phantom Fireworks / Champagne Racing Ligier JS F4) will be making their second-career Ligier JFC starts at Mid-Ohio, after debuting in the series last year. Meanwhile, Harbir Dass (No. 23 Northcoast Medical Group / Dubby Energy / Dass Psych LLC / Berg Racing Ligier JS F4) will be seeing the lights go out at Mid-Ohio for the first time in his career. A four-time podium finisher this season, Dass is searching for his first-career Ligier JFC win. 

Benites Jr. Returns to Ligier JFC

Pablo Benites Jr. (No. 44 Scuderia Buell Ligier JS F4) returns to Ligier JFC for the first time since the 2024 season opener at NOLA Motorsports Park. Having contested a part-time schedule in F4 U.S. last season, which included the round at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, the 17-year-old Argentinean earned a podium in the class, with a best result of third during the weekend. 

Familiar Names Return at New Places

Zach Fourie (No. 15 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F4) and Josh Griffith (No. 34 Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F4) both sat out the Road America SpeedTour last month. Returning to the grid this weekend, the drivers will no longer be teammates, now facing off at opposing teams as Fourie joins Kiwi Motorsport and Griffith joins Crosslink Motorsports. 

Trophies Make the Best Birthday Presents

Beckham Jacir (No. 7 STONICA / BELL / OMP / P1Doks / LC Racing Ligier JS F4) is hoping to unbox a trophy as part of his birthday presents this year. Turning 17 years old on Thursday, the South African hopes to wrap up his birthday celebration by taking the top step of the podium at Mid-Ohio. Making his season debut at Road America last month, the rookie has already shown incredible speed, racing through the field and earning his first-career podium in Race 3 that weekend.

Dass and Pinkowski Face Off

Kelsey Pinkowski (No. 20 Satispie / FDA Logistics / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F4) and Harbir Dass (No. 23 Northcoast Medical Group / Dubby Energy / Dass Psych LLC / Berg Racing Ligier JS F4) will not only face off this weekend at Mid-Ohio, but also at Michigan International Speedway. That is, both drivers have been involved on their college’s Formula SAE program, which commences with the Formula SAE Finals this week at Michigan International Speedway. The week-long program has the teams facing off in a variety of static and dynamic competitions, evaluating everything from the design, cost and business aspects of the car, as well as its on-track performance. With colleges participating from around the country, Dass’ Georgia Tech will face off against Pinkowski’s Rochester Institute of Technology. 

Milestone Moment for Griffith

Josh Griffith (No. 34 Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F4) is a new high school graduate! Having walked across the commencement stage earlier this month, Griffith officially wrapped up his time at Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo, Calif.
