JD Beach has been around motorcycles for as long as he can remember. Raised in Philpot, Ky., Beach was introduced to the sport before he was even born thanks to his father — a racer who purchased his first motorcycle in anticipation of his son's arrival.
He competed in his first race at just 3 years old on a Suzuki JR50 and steadily worked his way up the ranks of amateur racing. Inspired by American motorcycle racing legends Chris Carr and Nicky Hayden, Beach steadily progressed through the ranks, beginning in youth dirt track racing before advancing through larger classes and eventually turning professional.
"Racing was just something I've always done,” said Beach. “It was a pretty clear path, but not an easy one. I started out as a kid racing dirt track on 50s. Then, as I got older, I just kept slowly moving up the classes and progressing as a rider. Once I was old enough to turn professional, I did and haven't looked back since."
Beach’s professional career began in Europe in 2007 and he has since built one of the most accomplished resumes in American motorcycle racing. His career highlights include winning the 2008 MotoGP Rookies Cup Championship, the 2010 AMA Pro SuperSport Championship, MotoAmerica titles in 2015 and 2018, and earning 2019 MotoAmerica Superbike Rookie of the Year honors. He also became one of the few riders to win races in both AFT Twins and MotoAmerica Superbike competition during the same season, accomplishing the feat twice.
Today, Beach competes in the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship after previously racing in AMA Pro Road Racing, AMA Pro Flat Track and American Flat Track.
Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course has long been one of Beach's favorite circuits, dating back to his first race there in 2009.
"Mid-Ohio has always been one of my favorite tracks,” he said. I first raced here in 2009 and instantly fell in love with the track. The layout is super fun and keeps you on your toes. Plus, the fans that come out to attend the race are almost unmatched."
Beach joined The Mid-Ohio School as an instructor in 2025 after racing for the Real Steel Honda team, where he connected with Mark Junge and became involved with the school's rider training programs.
One of his favorite parts of instructing is helping students better understand the track and build confidence in their own riding.
"One of my favorite things I get to do with The Mid-Ohio School is the track walk with students,” he said. “It's always fun to share my thoughts and lines with them, giving them a different way to look at the track or race lines. It's really rewarding when they get to apply what we talk about, improve their lap times and feel safer doing it."
