For Aaron Quine, racing at Mid-Ohio is a family tradition that spans generations. Growing up in Wadsworth, Ohio, Quine spent his early years watching his father race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in the 1970s. This gave Aaron experiences that sparked a lifelong passion for motorsports and planted the seeds for a career that would eventually bring him back to the same track as both a competitor and an instructor.
Quine began karting at just six years old, quickly developing a foundation in racecraft and car control. By his senior year of high school in 1990, he had transitioned into full-size race cars, competing at Mid-Ohio while also autocrossing and road racing a wide variety of machinery. His steady progression through grassroots competition laid the groundwork for a long and successful career across multiple racing disciplines.
Inspired by motorsports legends and his heroes Mario Andretti and Bobby Rahal, Quine continued climbing the racing ladder, earning his first professional opportunity in 2014 when he joined the Trans Am Series driving for team owner David Jans. That season included a memorable fifth-place finish at Mid-Ohio, followed by another career highlight in 2019 when he competed in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at the same iconic circuit.
Over the years, Quine has raced extensively in SCCA, NASA, SVRA, Trans Am, IGT, NCCC, and ASCC competition, amassing an impressive resume that includes numerous SCCA track records, pole positions, race wins, and championships. His deep experience competing at Mid-Ohio, which spans more than three decades, has given him a particular appreciation for the circuit’s elevation changes and demanding mix of left- and right-hand turns.
In 2005, Quine joined The Mid-Ohio School as an instructor after being referred by Adam Andretti. They met while working on a teen mobile defensive driving program which Adam was instructing for The Mid-Ohio School and Aaron supported the logistics via Kumho Tires.
Since then, Quine has shared his passion and knowledge with students through a variety of programs, with a special fondness for the racing school. Drawing on more than 36 years of experience at Mid-Ohio, Quine finds great fulfillment in watching students absorb lessons, build confidence, and show tangible improvement over the course of a day or multi-day programs.
“I have 36 years of racing at Mid-Ohio and love to share my passion with students,” said Aaron Quine. “It’s a great feeling to see them learn and catch on to what I'm teaching and improve throughout the day or days I’m spending with them.”
From childhood memories at the track to professional successes and decades of instruction, Aaron Quine’s story is inseparable from Mid-Ohio, a place where passion, experience, and mentorship come together.
